5 Benefits to Joining a Campus Club

At Grace, we purposefully teach our students to be Grounded in Truth, Rooted in Christ, Apt to Lead, Clear in Communication, and Equipped as Citizens. These student outcomes are what drive our programs, and clubs are one important avenue we use to help our students develop in these areas while forming lifelong friendships along the way.

We attended club rush on the Jr/Sr High Campus and asked the students who are leading a club this year, "Why join a club?" The following are the top 5 benefits they cited:

1. Make new friends who share your interests. Clubs are a great way to meet and develop friendships with other students who share a common interest. Maybe it's a student in another grade or someone you didn't think you had much in common with. You may be surprised how many wonderful new friends were right in front of you just waiting to be met!

2. Participate in an activity you love--or discover a new interest! Clubs are a valuable supplement to the primary curriculum, allowing students to explore their interests, develop new skills, or discover new passions.

3. Lead a club. Students are encouraged to find an adult sponsor and start a new club. Our creative students have started a variety of clubs such as the fishing club, yo-yo club, Fellowship of Student Athletes club, worship band club, TPUSA, magic club, book club, and even a comic book club! Starting a new club, or leading an existing club, is an excellent way to develop leadership skills while building a well-rounded resume.

4. Learn how to glorify God in all areas of life. Hobbies and recreation are blessings from our Creator, and exploring them in a Christ-centered environment provides opportunities to learn how to glorify God in all we do. Rather than seeing our gifts as a way to glorify ourselves, we can encourage one another to give the glory to God for our skills and talents.

5. Be a part of a Christ-Centered community. Joining a club in a Christ-honoring environment is uplifting and character-building, as students encourage one another to continue to pursue Christ, serving Him and one another. Plus, as we build our skills together in community through a club, there are countless opportunities to practice encouraging and building one another up.

If you are a student at Grace Jr/Sr High, we encourage you to join a club today! And if your student doesn't currently attend Grace but you are interested in learning more about how our Jr/Sr High prepares students for life, schedule a visit today!

Friends and Fun on Class Retreats

As we walked around the Jr/Sr High School Campus talking to students about their class retreats, one thing was certain; new friendships were made. Almost every student said, in one way or another, that they discovered people in their class they had not interacted with before. Being away from campus on retreat or engaging in events outside the normal school day routine, provided a space for students to relax and just enjoy being together.

Preschool Staff is Inspired and Unified by ACSI Conference

Grace Preschool Staff, led by Director Dawn Munden, recently gathered together for a development day and off-campus retreat. We are blessed to have leaders at Grace who value our staff and desire to cultivate their skills through conferences and other development opportunities throughout the year. Not only are professional skills enhanced by these events, but morale is strengthened because of the personal bonds that are formed and deepened by them, leaving us better equipped to make a lasting difference in the lives of the children at Grace.
