Each year Grace Athletics is excited to celebrate Lancer student-athletes who have committed to playing their chosen sport at the collegiate level. On Wednesday, seniors Alexis Bower, Taylor Ikenouye, and Kyle Zahn ceremonially signed a letter of intent to publicly signify their commitment to their chosen school. They were surrounded by family and friends who joyously celebrated after each athlete signed their letter of intent.

A beloved annual tradition, our K-1 students hiked to the cross on Mt. McCoy today to celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection. Pastor Danny Lee spoke to the students about the significance of Easter. The students also participated in singing worship songs and recited Mark 16:6, "And he said to them, 'Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.'"
One of the favorite traditions at Grace Elementary is the celebration of 100 Days of School. It is always such an exciting day for our kindergarten students as they have been building up each day for this moment in the school year.
Teacher Stephanie Martinez shares The Big Book Project which was assigned to the 8th Grade Honors English class as a culminating project for their independent reading book. The students used a poster board to create a "big book" that displays a re-designed cover, character sketches, a detailed plot diagram, a literary analysis of theme, and a book review. The Grace 8th graders displayed impressive results and creativity on this project and had fun doing it! One student, Norah, said, "This project let us use our imagination and creativity," and another student, Candace, said, "The Big Book Project was fun and made my mind wrap around all the parts of my book." Congratulations to the 8th grade honors english class and to Mrs. Martinez for a successful project. We are so proud of you!
This past November, the faculty and staff at Grace School gathered for an in-service day where Dr. Jordan Morton, Dean and Associate Professor at the Master's University, led them through important topics relevant to teachers and the classroom of today. Of highest priority for Christian schools is being able to define what it means to have a Biblical worldview and then how it is specifically implemented in each and every subject. We discussed other current topics such as AI and Social Media and the best practices concerning both.
Before the Christmas break, student leaders at the Jr/Sr High, delivered hand-made Christmas cards and gifts to all our neighbors surrounding the campus. Led by Dean of Student Life, Matt Simms, several students jumped in the car or walked the sidewalks to spread a message of thanks and gratitude to our neighbors for their kindness and support of our school. Mr. Simms said, "It can't always be easy being the neighbor of a busy, bustling campus," but we always want to be mindful of our neighbors and be as friendly as we can be. We are grateful for the example of servant heartedness that Mr. Simms demonstrates to our student body.
"We wish you a Merry Christmas" was the message Grace Preschoolers brought to the staff of Simi Hospital, a neighbor of our Preschool Campus. The children dressed in their most festive Christmas attire and walked single file across the street with their teachers and parents to line up and sing Christmas Caroles to a large crowd, filling the lobby of the hospital reception area upstairs and downstairs.
Grace Preschool had a special guest speaker during their last chapel before Christmas. Head of School, Matt Cooper, came to talk to the students about the true meaning of Christmas, the baby Jesus being born, and why we celebrate His birthday. When he asked the children whose birthday we celebrate at Christmas, they all shouted, "JESUS!"
The Lancers Jr. High Flag Football team had a successful 10-1 season, coming back and getting the 32-21 win in the championship game against Pleasant Valley, who squeaked out a narrow 14-13 win over Grace last season. The Lancers entered the game against Pleasant Valley confidently as last year's championship loss was close and they were missing a key player.
Most people will spend upwards of a third of their life at work from age 25-65. The reasons why we work matters. Do we work for wealth, power, and influence, or do we work to glorify God? Is our identity wrapped up in our job title, or is it as a follower of Christ? These were some of the questions posed by the speakers during the Grace High School Career Week.
